This website also looks like it might be promising: http://www.ukvocation.org/
I think, for most Carmels, you can set up a private visit. Here's a listing of UK carmels: http://www.carmelnuns.org.uk/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=13&MMN_position=17:17

Also, when she gets back, Faith Cecilia has been in discernment with several Carmels in the UK. She's on a live-in right now at Notting Hill (praise God!), but will be back next week and can probably answer some of your questions.

Hi, if you go to www.free2become.org they have some vocational retreats coming up. As far as I can figure out they're a vocations group based in London, they meet close to Westminister Cathedral every month. They have some lovely meditations up. If you go to forthcoming events there's a list of when the talks are on. If you go to other events there's some monastic retreats, one to Our Lady of Walsingham community in October. They also have a list of Carmelite monasteries that invite women to contact them to arrange a short retreat inside the enclosure which is pretty unusual. Hope this helps.

Contact Mother Margaret at St. Helens Carmel. They're a very traditional good community. I will be visiting them in the next two weeks.

Ooooh, only just seen this!

Most of the UK Carmels will allow live-ins after a visit or two externally (Kirk Edge and St Helens are exceptions as they are 1990 constitutions) and most will actually insist on it. As for as I am aware, the Poor Clares are the same.

The Community of Our Lady of Walsingham have a Come and See in October http://www.walsinghamcommunity.org/events.html which I would highly recommend attending if you can - even if you don't feel called to them - as their charism is the support of vocation in all its forms. My visit to them was absolutely invaluable and their love and support continued at the same high level even after I discerned that I was called to Carmel. In fact, I now consider them friends and they visited me a couple of times when I was in Q. They also run a monthly vocations group at westminster Cathedral (obviously I don't know whereabouts you are!) where dozens of young (and youngish!) adults get together, listen to talks and learn more about vocation, again in all its forms.

Although not a retreat, this website http://www.ukvocation.org/discernment-groups has lots of info too.

Hope some of this helps.
