Chrysophylax
I saw in the examination of conscience posted on this website the point under the third Commandment that said "Have I done any unnecessary shopping on a Sunday?" My question is, under what circumstances is shopping on a Sunday wrong? Is this only if the shopping is chore/ work related (not supposed to work on a Sunday)? What about just going out for fun? cappie
The general principle is that we should refrain from whatever would interfere with the sanctification of Sunday. Shopping may be treated as a form of recreation (though not by me!), but it ordinarily tends to detract from, not to enhance, the sanctification of Sunday. I think it's best to avoid needless shopping on Sunday, although I don't know whether a little needless shopping on occasion would actually be a sin. (Sorry for not exactly answering your question, but this is the best I can do!)
