While most of the posts on that board are crazy, the person who posted that was correct. The Commandment is properly put as "Thou shalt not murder." It is also true that the civil government has the lawful authority to kill and that this lawful authority applies within the country as well as outside of the country, e.g., wars. I don't know to what that individual was referring with the final comment about "Revelations". I do not know if this means the Book of Revelation, properly called the Book of the Apacolypse or something else. I suppose that is not important. For the Church's stance on the government's role on justly killing criminals, see the Council of Trent's Declaration on Commandment V. Here is a good website. The Council gives reasons for killing in a Just War as well as killing criminals (it cites killing animals, by accident and in self defense as other just killings). God bless.

HEy I read the ezboard forum you posted thats absolutley terrifying that people can say things like that and say they are christian.They need our praryers badly.I think my boyfriend was on a forum like that and he couldnt do it anymore becaus eit made him angry, so he had to stop and there is another forum like that and they kicked him off I think the truth was getting to them and they couldnt take it

It really makes me sick to my stomach...that people believe that. I will tell you what i am glad we have Jesus appointed leader on earth Peter and his faithful magesterium to lead the way for us so we dont end up like that. You know something that i have picked up when it comes to theology Catholics really score there Protestants rely on the basics and their constant use of them in different situations where Catholics bring out the Catechism, Bible, Summa, and Fathers.

OOH I did not particulary like the comment about the upside-down Cross. It is not association with devil worship, but honor for the first Pope, who was nailed on a cross upside-down!

It seems that ignorance of Tradition and Magisterium have proved to be as horrible as ignorance of Scripture!
