But she found her true vocation - what can be more wonderful than that?? And it must have been a true vocation to have taken on 7 children :shocking:

Actually, if you've ever read her book, she says that she had no idea what she was getting into. that she didn't know how babies were made and was very surprised to find herself preggers. :|

She also married him because Mother Superior told her it was the will of God. The kids asked her if she liked their father, and she said yes, thinking they just meant something like, "Do you think he's an okay sort of guy." And then they told him that she wanted to marry him, so he went and asked her and she started freaking out, went back to the convent to ask Mother and and then came back and cried on his shoulder because Mother said she had to marry him, because it was the will of God. rotfl What a way to start an engagement!

Still an amesome movie. :hehe2:

Her reaction there is a wonderful exact and opposite description of my own realisation of my vocation - I was going away to get engaged and came home knowing God was calling me to be His alone. Goodness me, there were more than a few tears!!!!!

LaPetiteSoeur

I loved this movie. And the Sound of Music is my daddy's favorite movie! He made his mother take him to see it the day it opened (which, where he lived, was Easter sunday!) He even went to my hs's musical when it was the sound of music--and none of his daughters was in it!

I always was sad at the end of the Sound of Music, but now I know that it's better that Maria married Captain von Trapp. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was another family favorite. As was Pollyanna and Candleshoe.
