They taught us the propers -- one at a time each week for the past few weeks. My parish also had a teaching session this week. I didn't go. I kinda want to go into this as blind as I can. It'll force me to really, truly listen.

On another note, i guess Stephen Colbert is going to have to update his routine:

Did you mean the ordinary, or were they actually doing the propers?

Apparently the way my former parish is implementing this is that for the last couple weeks the priest has been using the changed texts for his parts, but the laity will begin next Sunday. Seems a little strange to me, but if it works that'll be c/ool.
On the other hand, as I understand it a lot of the parishioners are under the impression that the priest's part is the only one that's changing, and their part is staying the same. I think somebody in the parish office dropped the ball on that one, because obviously it's not clear enough as to what form the changes take.

ETA: F/ilters are stupid.

Sanctus, Mem. Acclamation, Great Amen, Agnus Dei. I think I messed it up -- those are the ordinaries, right? My bad.

Yeah, that's the ordinary. ^_^ The propers would be the stuff that mostly you've probably never heard before. Except perhaps the offertory.

I actually did very well! (though, I totally bombed the last "and with your spirit" because I felt too razzle dazzle to keep the information card of prayers in my hand)

My priest ignored it entirely so did everyone else, but I at least gave the correct responses quietly (I am used to 'and with your spirit' from the latin mass" - and we didn't do the Creed since there was a Baptism so he just asked us all to answer to the questions in the Profession of Faith (I kind of like that anyway). I don't know what he will do next week. It's not as if he doesn't know what he should do because two weeks ago he went over it all with us, but this week he just acted as if nothing were changing. Our parish uses an overhead projector, and there was no reason they couldn't have put the new responses up there.

We even had the old "Christ has died, Christ is risen..." which isn't being used any more. For the 'Lord I am not worthy...', I used the new terminiology but no one else did. *sigh*

I wonder if he is hoping that he can just ignore it until he retires??

I will be interested to hear how things are happening at my parents' parish when they go next weekend (they were at ours this weekend), because I could see their priest trying that...although, they also have a younger priest who is super excited about it, so that has to make life interesting at the parish...
