Brother Adam
Mainly a dinner. I am going to do chicken sandwiches for the first night for our youth trip, but I would like to do something other than hamburgers, but still grilled for the second night, but is easy to do over a grill and takes relatively few ingredients. Ideas?

Brother Adam
primitive camping. We'll have tents and an open fire. I am of course bringing a grilling grate for the fire.
Brother Adam
I thought about soup and salad, but when it will be 90 degrees out, probably not.
CatherineM
Hobo dinners. Meat potatoes carrots anything that would go in stew plus seasoning. Wrap in aluminum foil throw on coals.
TeresaBenedicta
You can roast chickens in the fire. That's what we're doing this weekend. You stuff 'em with veggies (celery, carrots, etc), and then put 'em in the fire to cook during the day. Kabobs? Chicken, steak, different veggies, etc. Corn on the cob. Potatoes wrapped in aluminum foil. Hm.
faithcecelia
Depending on how dead set you are with the chicken sandwiches, you could do chicken breasts easily on the fire. Kebabs are always fun, especially if you get them making their own. Baked potatoes are great fillers too. Ooh and baked bananas with marshmallows and chocolate chips (wrap in foil) are amazing! Papist
Breakfast: Jelly and Butter Biscuits on a Stick 1 can of Can Biscuits 1 Bottle of squeezable jelly 1 bottle of squeezable butter .5 inch thick hard wood stick long enough to not get burned The stick should be long enough to hold over a fire and the person holding the stick not get burned, just like when you are roasting marshmallows on a stick. Shave the bark off the stick a foot from the end. Wrap the biscuit dough of one biscuit serving around the stick starting at the end, and overlap each wrap of the dough until all of the biscuit dough serving is used. Ensure that the end of the stick that you started at is also covered with biscuit dough to make a small container out of biscuit. Hold the stick with the biscuit dough over the fire and continue rotating the stick so that the dough is cooked evenly. Once done gently remove the biscuit from the stick. Fill the open end with jelly and butter.
Papist
Burritos Dried black beans or refried beans Dried corn Dried packaged seasoned rice Medium soft tortilla shells Salsa in a plastic jar[I use zip-lock bag] Cooking instructions Rehidrate all of the dried ingredient and pile everything in to the tortilla shell. If you want the taco (amazingly good) bell grilled version, then you can put some butter or crisco in a frying pan and try to grill it. If you don't want all of those ingredient in the burrito, eating them as a side dish tastes just as good. This meal is great if you don't want the hassel of trying to keep meat on trail frozen or having to eat it on the first or second day.
Amppax
Corn on the cob. Roasted over a fire, there's nothing better. Also, I second CatherineM's suggestion.

We usually just throw on salt and pepper for seasonings. AND there are no plates making for an easy clean up!!!
Sarah147
My Scout group had a tasty idea. They took an empty can that had beans or something in it, and put ground beef with some mixed veggies (such as the frozen mixed bag type) and put a biscuit on top, then put it over the fire. It came out delicious! Dinty Moore also tastes yummy when camping.
