most of what I know about Michael Voris is hearsay, and a whole lot of negative publicity. You can easily make a name for yourself by stirring controversy. It may not always be the easiest and fastest way into heaven, but if you are the sole possessor of the secret and exclusive truth, what can I say to negate it?
I didn't know Voris would present at World Youth Day, and wonder what kind of negative publicity attracts unwanted attention. I probably won't go anyways.
There are plenty of places I can go to get the Catholic Faith. I am literate. I read the Bible, the Fathers, the Catechism. There are plenty of good pastors who have assisted me on the way of holiness, that didn't require finger pointing, accusations, or confrontations.

I think I agree with the idea that Vorris's style isn't really appropriate for WYD. Then again, the same could be said of a significant portion of PMers. But, it also doesn't sound like, from what he said (and you really should take people at their word), that he's going there to do anything much other than keep people informed as to what's going on. I don't think he wants to go to "peck a faight".

Still, since a party of representatives, officially recognized by the world's bishops, has seen fit to make a statement saying that they're not "approved", Vorris and the Vortex should probably not even go. Even if there is no command or obligation for them to not be there, I think it would send a bigger message about their faithfulness to Rome if they did not.

I wouldn't take this guy at his word. He's a self-righteous, smug, Beiber wannabe man-child whose sole source of emotional comfort seems to come from speaking with an unpleasant disposition about what everyone else is doing and playing up his persecution complex.

I find it interesting at those who are saying, "WYD is for people to come together and be joyful about their faith. It's so that we can go back out in the world and make disciples of all nations." I don't know if you know but at WYD all kinds of anti-Catholics go there to protest against this event!

Yeah, I've been to WYD. And the thing is, you don't really see or hear that much about the anti-Catholics while you're there, minus possibly running into them outside the events, but typically you're with like 50 other Catholics, and they are vastly outnumbered. And you're surrounded by so many Catholics being POSITIVE and JOYFUL that the anti-Catholics outside of the event aren't that noticeable. To have someone like Micheal Voris come INTO the event and be a cranky pantaloons would not be a positive influence. Honestly, he doesn't inspire much hope. Sorry.

Amen. I didn't run into CA at WYD Toronto but I received some anti-Catholic literature and the path into the gate was littered with discarded anti-Catholic tracts.
