kujo
Was pretty astonished to see the President stoop so low as to just call out the Republicans on national TV. Lame...real lame...
tinytherese
What can be done in our situation then? I don't know much about politics, but I think not requiring the wealthy do their part is stupid. Edited July 27, 2011 by tinytherese

Jesus_lol
I am really disapointed in the republicans now. The democrats have basically created a proposal that is farther Right than many republicans, more than compromising, cutting out pretty much everything the democrats wanted to put in, in hopes that the republicans might try and help out. but Boehner refuses to play at all. someone should tell him that "bipartisan" means republicans AND democrats, not just republicans in the house and senate. It would be nice if the republican party put some effort into helping america out, instead of focusing all their energies into making Obama a 1 term president. They are just dragging this out to push drama in the election year, because any sane adult would have actually shown up and hashed out the problems, instead of sitting up in their room demanding to have dessert before dinner before they come down.
Ummm, what? You do realize how much the wealthiest pay, right?
yeah, that isnt even in the proposal anymore, and yet there is still deadlock from Boehner. Edited July 27, 2011 by Jesus_lol

Regardless of what their real intentions are (and who can know that for either party), it looks like they are only concerned with making Obama a single term president, and to heck with the economy and our nation's credit rating. Congress raised the debt ceiling 17 times under Reagan, 5 times under Bush sr, 7 times under Bush jr, and 4 times under Clinton. We've done it over a hundred times in our nation's history. What. Is. Their. Problem. It's like a giant game of chicken, and the real people who will get steamrolled are those of us who don't have six figure salaries that can't afford a huge spike in loans and rates. fides' Jack
I still think that the best thing we can do at this point is move all our commerce from overseas to the states as quickly as our economy will allow, and tax all companies using overseas labor to save costs.
