track2004
I rather enjoyed the movie. It's main character is the mistaken messiah, but he knows that, its the crowd working themselves into a frenzy and putting him on a pedistal. And I think that quite a few movies have made me a better person for having seen them. Personally, I think movies that give you a better prespective on the human condition help you to learn more about yourself and to know Christ you must know yourself because Christ lives in you. So all in all every movie can bring you closer to Him if it teaches you something about you. The Passion can teach that, but that doesn't mean will affect everyone the same way it affected you. lilac_angel
The nudity is done in very poor taste, and is by social definition flat out pornography. I'm sorry but I see their rendition of "angels" as nude lapdancers sick and wrong. I just cannot see our Dear Lord and Savior "laughing his but off" at this movie.
I agree. Plus, I just don't see what's funny about "Jesus" saying basically that life's a joke and it all amounts to nothing while he's up on the Cross. Brian's talking to us, the audience, up there - basically telling us what to believe and being the typical athiest that looks down at religion and how silly it is. Okay, I admit when I first saw it it was funny (then again, I wasn't as religious back then). But when you think about it, it's really cutting deep at religion & Christianity. Not all satire is created equal. Some parts are quite humorous, like the Pontius Pilate part. I just think that the movie went a *little* too far at some points, and the fact that they're re-releasing it now just further cements my suspicion that the movie was made with a pretty strong anti-religious viewpoint and was perhaps intended as something slightly more than satire. What really bothers me is the fact that they felt the need to release it *again* after a serious movie like The Passion. Their agenda becomes even clearer now. But yeah, Brother Adam, that completely distasteful nudity alone is reason enough not to like it. Edited June 14, 2004 by lilac_angel
