Well you go ahead and keep being all compassionatey and pinko. I'll be waiting in the narthex with my crossbow a-cocked.

Thank You!!!!

One of my closest & most trustworthy friends only goes to mass on Easter. (She was taught by Jesuits, but suffered as her parents went through a very difficult divorce.) She does feel a tug at her heart - and I pray that her ability to respond increases - but I would never say that she (or anyone) shouldn't come to church.

Our diocese actually did a Catholics Come Home campaign last year during Advent in the hopes of getting them to come back by Christmas or at least make Christmas their starting point. And then all the priests gave homilies on how we, the parishoners, needed to respond to these people with LOVE and compassion, so we didn't just run 'em out again!

Personally, I think that for Midnight Mass, base a good part of the reading on the Epistle to Titus referring to how the grace of God trains us to reject Godless ways, and list a few of those ways, including missing Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.
Additionally, put an insert in the misalette (or make a little announcement) regarding the reception of Holy Communion and the need to be free of mortal sin, which includes missing Mass on Sunday or a Holy Day of Obligation, but mention confession times so they can receive next Sunday.

i think this is a great idea. let's re-evangelize those in the rosters who only come a few times a year.

I definitely *DO* think something needs to be said regarding the proper reception of Holy Communion.

well, i think it needs to be said at every Mass - all the time. Not just Christmas/Easter/weddings/funerals.

It was actually pretty cool, because they introduced the idea over the summer at the Diocesan Centennial celebration, and stating that they would be asking for donations to run the commercials. But, they had already raised half the money from the priests and deacons before even asking the rest of the parishoners, which I thought was really cool.

Okay, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but there has been more than one occasion where I was not going up for communion and the usher at the pew (you know, because we can't all figure out on our own how to get in a line) waits and waves to you to try to get you to go, or taps you on the shoulder or something.

the grass mass (take the grass home, grow it, then put it in the manger for baby Jesus.)

"Grass Mass"? That's a new one on me. Although I hate to say, for a second I thought it had something to do with marijuana.
