I have talked with catholics in other places than PM, fyi. but yes that sort of argument is sometimes made here by people crowing about the "sins that cry out to the heavens". But obviously if you havent seen something then it doesnt exist. I forgot about that.

but go ahead, im just agreeing with jaime (the artist formerly known as hot stuff) (the artist formerly known as hot stuff) (the artist formerly known as hot stuff) (the artist formerly known as hot stuff), who you havent seemed to really attack on the subject.

Fides, lets just remember that i have been here for several years longer than you, and that i might be referring to something else that has happened during that time, than the specific one you are thinking of.
JLOL, remember I've been here longer than you, and I might be talking about other flower canadiens that i met.

Yes, there was a space in between my first word, so I wasn't really speaking at you, don't you know? Don't take it all personally, that is such a canadien thing to do.
Yeah, flooping interesting canadiens, I know them. I was amazed to see how offended candiens get when i suggest that America has lower taxes, but then thousands of them would flock to Grand Forks on the weekends to shop. amazing
since when have i claimed to be mature?
Since every post you've had in the last two weeks have been rebukes for other people's perceived immaturity. "oh my goodness (don't blasphemy) ERAMIGHT DOESN'T AGREE WITH DAN SAVAGE HE IS A HOMOPHOBE, oh my goodness (don't blasphemy) ANYONE ON THE FAR RIGHT AGREES WITH A TERRORIST IN NORWAY THEY ARE KILLERS"

actually, you and bill maher sound almost exactly alike. actually, now that i think about it, I think you even steal his phrases. But I can hear him anytime i want. which makes you superfluous.

The only problem being that your religion puts them on a very very comparable level. only by a very small margin can you make their sins and temptations worse than your sins and temptations.
Ah. Thanks for correcting me. I stand humbled.

...but I'm not sure about this last sentence. Only slightly worse? I think that's a hard argument either direction - it's hard to say that it's only slightly worse, and hard to say that it's ten times worse. Sins can be qualified to an extent - murder is worse than making fun of someone. Taking Communion unworthily could be argued to be worse than murder. But in the end, I'm not sure the Church has ever really said HOW much worse anything is. She compares mortal sins to venial sins, but beyond that, it's hard to make an accurate weight of a sin - sexual sins in particular, since, well, for the same reasons that they have been referred to as "wanton" sins....

I want to add, also, that homo-bashers are everywhere; including in the Catholic Church. But the Catholic Church has taken more steps than a lot of others to correct that behavior. Don't hold it against the Church, because it's not the Church; it's individuals.

no problem, it took me a bit to figure out who you thought i was replying to(well, i never figured that out actually lol, just figured what you thought was going on :P )

isnt it kind of semantics, saying which mortal sin is worse than the other? can it possibly make a difference?

but as a "sin that crys out to heaven" sodomy is listed, but not seperated into either homosexual or heterosexual. therefore its considered pretty much the same in the eyes of God, at least in that wording. only by further speculation can you seperate and give different weights to the sins.

agreed. and thats why i am not bashing the Church, but rather individual posters and speaking in a general sense to a group of individuals that thinks that way.

According to the Catechism:
1601 “The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.”
2357 “Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.” They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.”

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that men and women were created for each other and for the purpose of procreating. Marriage has been around since the beginning of time, in all cultures and is for a man and a woman in a monogomous, committed relationship with the purpose of procreating. It is needed for the good of the family and of society. We can all see the damage that has already been done by the devaluing of marriage itself and of married people being open to life. We do not need to destroy society anymore by the sham that is called gay marriage.
If you have a same sex attraction, try and get that fixed or just offer it up and live a chaste life of celibacy. We all have a cross to bear and that just might be yours.
Big babies.

Exactly! Don't judge the Catholic Church by its members that don't live by its teachings.
