havok579257
Ok, so let's say someone was talking to the priest outside of the confessional about whatever. now let's say they lied about something and later on, not right away they went to confession for this sin to this priest. now if the person just says they lied to a priest about such and such but does not specifically say, father when i lied it was to you, is that all that needs to be said for a valid confession? or does the person confessing need to say that i lied to a priest about such and such and that priest was you father? (this is under the assumption that this is some time later and the priest would not remember the conversation the person confessing is talking about)
cappie
At first, the sin is lying....lying to anyone is a sin so no you don't have to say it was to that particular priest. However if the priest made some assumptions or acted upon your lie (say it was about someone) then you would have to tell the priest that you had lied to him and subsequently the decision/action he took may have been wrong. This is the only scenario that I could think of that would call for mentioning it was him.
