ardillacid
I don't know if I've replied to this or not Minneapolis is clean for a metro area. Minnesotans take good care of their outdoors. There is lots of fishing/hunting/outdoor rec to be had. The BWCA is probably the best outdoors experience in the US. There are tons of orthodox parishes in the area. The people are know for their MN nice. The only drawbacks I see are no mountains and no ocean :\

thessalonian
"These are not drawbacks! They are important MN heritage that makes us amazing and hardy people. They are things to be proud of! We love -40 degree weather and we build up our amazing hand-eye coordination by swatting mosquitoes almost all year round. MN rocks " True enough. The cold does tend to keep the rif-raf out. Don't recall swatting any mosquitoes december through March however.

To the extreme north along the North Shore heading into Grand Marais and Canada there is a stretch of mountains called the Porcupine Mountains. Although they are not mountains like the Rockies or the Appalachians, they are actually older and a result of the volcanic actions that originally formed the area. I Duluth. And, I have a lot of family up there, if I go to the cemetary. And millions of years ago, there used to be mountains in central MN. That's why there's all the granite in central MN...at least that's what they told us in Minnesota History in 6th grade.

krissylou
How easy or difficult is it to find a solid, reliable community of Catholic friends? Are there Catholics in Minnesota? Would it be almost impossible to be a single guy in Minneapolis? Or quite possible? Be brutally honest, please. By all means, tell me how wonderful Minnesota is, but also tell me if I'm going to feel like an island out there. Thanks
oh my goodness (don't blasphemy). Don't you know anything? The Norwegians are Lutheran and go to Lake Wobegon Lutheran Church. They all drive Fords. The Germans are Catholic and go to Our Lady of Perpetual Responsibility. They all drive Chevys.
