XIX
On a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is NYC (where everything happens), and 1 is some college campus that is otherwise in the middle of nowhere, how much "stuff is there to do?" Obviously it's not as big as NYC, but would I have a difficult time finding fun activities & friends, say 1-2 times per week on average? How easy or difficult is it to find a solid, reliable community of Catholic friends? Are there Catholics in Minnesota? Would it be almost impossible to be a single guy in Minneapolis? Or quite possible? Be brutally honest, please. By all means, tell me how wonderful Minnesota is, but also tell me if I'm going to feel like an island out there. Thanks
XIX
Also-- are there any reasonably dense metropolitan areas within driving distance on Minneapolis? I'm talking up to 3 hours. As a rule of thumb, if a city is big enough to support a professional sports* team, it's probably big enough for me. *small market Canadian hockey teams don't count. Sorry Winnipeg. homeschoolmom
If I had to live in Minnesota, but not in the Twin Cities, I would opt for Rochester. It's not as big as Duluth, though. Oh, and St. Paul is definately driving distance of Minneapolis. As to your other questions, Um... yeah, there's lots to do here. Lots of Catholics. XIX
Looking on teh interwebz, there appears to be a relatively solid Catholic community. Plus there are lots of hockey fans in Minnesota. Epic win. A company wants me to fly over for an in person interview, so there's a very realistic chance that I'll end up there.

Plus minor league teams scattered around. I've heard nothing but good things about the Catholic scene, night life, and availability of "things to do" Minnesota =

No Catholics in MN. All those on PM who claim to be Catholic and from MN are lying about one thing or the other. I'm sure in the Ciites you can find some good Catholics. Other, more sparsely populated areas of the state may result in having to look harder, but it's possible. I think, overall, the state has pretty good dioceses, though, the one where I grew could use some help. As far as stuff to do in the Ciites --Obviously it's not NYC, or anything, but as far as arts and theatre go, my ex-sis-in-law (who has a masters in Theatre) said it's pretty much the NYC of the midwest. And there are tons of other things to do in the Ciites. It's not a boring place.

There were Catholics, but the community was rather sparse. I was lonely and felt like I was fighting a battle by myself. Minnesota sounds cool though.
