Brother Adam
http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2011/07/17/catholic-university-faces-lawsuit-over-same-sex-dorms Yes, suing a private Catholic University for requiring students stay in same sex dorms due to the apparent violation of human rights to be sexually promiscuous makes perfect sense. MissyP89
I don't get it. In my last semester of college, I took a course that was about the relationship between public relations and journalism. The capstone of the course was a debate where half of us took PR roles, and the other half media, to debate this exact issue. Only a handful of campuses have coed dorms in the U.S. The vast majority are same-sex, or at the very least have same-sex floors. Besides, they're a private school. They can do as they please. BG45
Private institutions are private. I'm failing to see why Professor Banzhaf feels he has a case. Private institutions can set their own rules, especially religious ones. I went to my best friend's wedding the other week for instance; he goes to a private Christian school that requires a minimum of 30 minutes per day in the chapel. faithcecelia
By dorms do you mean seperate rooms? Like we call Halls of residence? If so I don't see that mixed or single-sex would make any difference at all, peple will do what they are going to do regardless. If dorm means the same as here (ie rooms with lots of beds) then yes I would agree with single sex.
Totus Tuus
I'm so glad I go to a school like that. I can walk out in PJ's (or less haha) and not scandalize anyone.
CatherineM
I lived in a single sex dorm. It didn't warp me. Plenty of sex still happened on campus.
kujo
Um, maybe I'm wrong, but isn't it fairly common place to have same-sex dorms? That's kinda the standard, no?

But that still doesn't make sense why he is suing them for it. This whole thing just sounds . What is this guy suing them for, exactly? And why? I mean, what stake does he have in any of it? Why does he even care??

I lived in the only co-ed dorm on my campus, but that was only because it was the only one with suites where you could have four people sharing a bathroom and a common area, instead of an entire floor sharing a communal bathroom.
Yeah, on my campus, the rooms themselves were same-sex, but the buildings themselves housed people of different genders, with each apartment containing a group of same-sex students. That's what we're talking about here, right?
yes a lot of colleges are going back to same-sex dorms, because studies have shown that it is better, academically, physically and emotionally to have same-sex dorms, not coed dorms. Which doesn't stop anything, but like Red said, people do better physically, emotionally, and academically in single sex environments.

cmotherofpirl
I went to a school with 99.9 % women. We had no trouble attracting boys, since we were treats, and not who they saw in grubby jeans falling out the door every morning late for class
