Well, tell him not to do it outside my window.

The reason we can typically smell it in our apt, is that people stand on the front stoop and smoke, becuz they can't smoke in the building. That I can understand. Well, this guy, for a while was smoking while sitting by his (open) window, which is directly under ours, and watching his tv. The other night, my husband got home from work and informs me that now they have just taken the screen out of the window and the guy is just smoking in front of the open window while standing INSIDE his apt. We still need to tell the Landlord about that one.

My brother smokes a pipe. Pipe tobacco does not smell horrible. Cigarette smoke smells horrible, unles its in Chile.. their cigarettes smell like candy for some reason...

Cigs are nasty. Cigars and pipes, on the other hand, are great.

I wanted to give up second-hand smoking for lent this year! It was just toooo hard for me. I was thinking of making a tee-shirt that says: "Please help my aceticism. I have given up second-hand smoking, that means YOU can no longer smoke within a 10 mile radius of me!" But then I was unsure of how friendly smokers would be to the request, so I've resigned myself to just standing upwind from them at the bus stop.

Well, cigarettes typically have all sorts of additives that I don't think you get when you smoke a pipe, which makes cigarette smoke smell worse (at least in my opinion).

Plus the fact that one doesn't typically inhale cigar or pipe smoke, meaning that you don't get the detrimental effects to your lungs (all of the horrifying diseases and cancers are only confined to your gums, jaw, teeth, and other things in your head hole. Yay!).

i like the smell of cigarette smoke... but of course i've come to realize that i married a man that is a lot like my grandfather (works with his hands, fixes anything, and smokes).
