Presumably it could instead by y=0 (perfectly neutral; she ignores my opinion), or y=-∞, at which point my opinion matters to her such that she does the exact opposite of whatever I suggest, in a manner so extreme that we can't really quantify it. Then on the positive end she'd value my opinion so much that she would base her entire life upon my every utterance to the point that she actively scorns all input besides mine.
