cappie
nihil obstat means "nothing stands in the way" (of publication) in other words the book is examined especially if it is about faith and morals. Usually a declaration that the work contrary to the same Catholic faith or morals The imprimatur usually by a bishop means "let it be printed" No implication is contained therein that those who have granted the nihil obstat and imprimatur agree with the opinions or statements in the publication.
