Sarah147
Hello, I notice that I get judgemental at times and I don't always notice it; sometimes I have to have it pointed out. It didn't help being raised in a very judgemental, opinionated family, which was something I hated. Anyway, how can I tell when I'm being judgemental or just expressing my stances, or just talking about someone, etc.? How should I be in my thoughts, feelings and words about actions, people, the way we should live, morals, etc.? How can I be more merciful? God bless you. cappie
Opinionated: adj – Holding stubbornly and often unreasonably to one’s own opinions Judgmental: adj – Inclined to make judgments, especially moral or personal ones Former is fine because it only involves you. At the worst case, your best friend maybe frustrated with your ego and your acquaintance may think that you are a megalomaniac, depending on the circumstances. Latter is wrong. Coming to conclusions based on half-information and wrong information is not the best thing to do. Neither is it healthy to measure the morality of fellow beings when we are not saints. After all, every one of us is a human. But, we are all both opinionated and judgmental, to varying degrees. The actual degree defines whether we are either, neither or both. One trick that helps me is trying to see myself in the person I am judging. Or thinking about all the things I have done for which I could be/have been harshly judged...which always reminds me that judging people is NOT equal to helping them, changing their minds, making them see the light and the error of their ways.
