CatherineM
It didn't get the same publicity, but I liked the fact that this one was Catholic. IgnatiusofLoyola
Unfortunately, despite the fact it was a Catholic wedding, this marriage may not last. Prince Albert already has confessed to 2 illegitimate children, and found out on the day of his civil wedding that he will have to take paternity tests soon for two more children, that were conceived while he and Princess Charlene were dating. Princess Charlene was very upset and there are rumors she tried to leave the country to escape the wedding, but officials confiscated her passport so that she and Albert could work things out. It may be that the couple will only stay married long enough for Charlene to bear Albert a couple of legitimate children. However, we will pray that Albert will change his ways and that he and Charlene have a long marriage. They have been dating for several years, so they appear to care for each other. Unfortunately, Monaco has a long history of Princes (and their children) who appear to be Catholic in name-only. But, there is always the chance that this marriage will be different.
Hey, I really doubt that that happened. Princess Charlene has, herself, denied them: She said: “It is a shame that those rumors came at such a bad time, but I think they were timed to sabotage such a happy occasion. They are categorical lies. "I won’t dignify them with any response other than to say that the photographs of me and Albert in love and getting married will speak louder than any vicious gossip and empty rumors." http://www.hellomagazine.com/celebrities-news-in-pics/02-07-2011/56922/celebrities/ Her father has also denied them. The media can be so vicious sometimes. I LOVED the click song and that one priest speaking in Afrikaans was pretty cool too. Oh, and she looked SO in love with him when she kissed him . The media can be so vicious sometimes. I LOVED the click song and that one priest speaking in Afrikaans was pretty cool too. Oh, and she looked SO in love with him when she kissed him .
Note: I DID say they were rumors--and I really hope the rumors are wrong. But, Princess Charlene still must have been hurt, and had doubts, whether she acted on them or not, when the latest claims were made (I think on the day of the civil wedding) because the first two illegitimate children were fathered before she and Albert began dating, but the latest two children that the mothers claim are Albert's were fathered while Albert and Charlene were dating. However, I do think that Charlene and Albert care for each other--they have been dating a long time. And, like CatherineM, I hope that the marriage sacrament itself will change Albert's past way of life, now that he has pledged to God and to Charlene that he will keep himself only unto her. (Sorry, I'm not sure of the exact words used in the Catholic wedding service--I quoted the Anglican words.) Added note to clarify: The information that Charlene tried to escape Monaco--possibly as many as three times, has been denied by Charlene and Albert and has not been confirmed by any official source (that I know of). However, the Palace HAS confirmed that the Prince will have to undergo at least one new paternity test. The second paternity test is a rumor. The age(s) of the latest illegitimate child(ren) are unconfirmed. Charlene and Albert had been dating 5 years before their marriage. But again, I hope that Charlene and Albert make it past this, and that their marriage is a long and happy one. I, too am a romantic! It looked like they cut a very small cake instead. Apparently using a (partially) false cake is not unknown. When Queen Noor married the (now deceased) King of Jordan many years ago, the King tried in vain several times to cut the enormous cake with his sword--before discovering (or being told) that the bottom part of the cake was cardboard! LOL Note: the couple still had a long and happy marriage despite this mishap. Edited July 4, 2011 by IgnatiusofLoyola
