Man. You people smell of elderberries.

You see "NY Times" and you immediately dismiss it. I thought it was a fairly objective piece, showing how neither side is really making any real moves to IMPROVE the situation. They just lock themselves in their ideological towers and shoot arrows at each other, more focused with "winning points" with their constituents than with actually accomplishing something.

Really? I READ the article. The "if the Republicans were normal" is croutons.

Neither side gives a croutons about anybody but themselves.

"Normalcy" was being judged by a "normal" political party, rather than just a protest party, which is kind of what the GOP has devolved into. They don't really DO anything anymore--they just gnash their teeth and cry "socialism" whenever anyone dares to discuss social services.

Since the election of President Obama, yes.

I have noticed people who say they are conservative tend to be christian nationalists now.

Do you view right wing as a negative?

Interesting, never thought of it in terms of "Christian nationalism."

Yes I view right wing as negative and very destructive to our country. It is the church that
is responsible for all the hatred and animosity towards LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual
and Transgered-Transexual) people.

It is the church that says to the world it's okay to hate anyone who is different from
yourself. To exclude them from your fellowships, to make them not feel wanted.
It is the church that tells society that their hatred and violence toward us is not
a sin because it's done in the name of God.

It is not nationalism. It is their desire to run this country and
the world like religious dictators.

With respect, I think it's more than just the fault of "the Church." There's a fundamental disrespect and dehumanization that has cropped up as it pertains to the LGBT community, the roots of which date back thousands of years. I said it in a post the other day--anything that deviates from the social norms that comprise the understanding of "masculinity" is viewed as inferior. Examples can be found in every locker room and board room in the world--men who violate the unofficial "guy code" are called "ladies" or "f*gs." This has come to have a pejorative connotation rather than an inaccurate statement; if someone called me "blue-eyes," I wouldn't be offended, but it would also just not be true. You can say that this negative reaction towards homosexuals (and, in other cases, women) stems from "the Church," but that's only to say that it steams from PEOPLE.

Ah, this is where the Phatmass Inquisition begins. I suffered the same fate a few weeks back, when someone got a hair across their backside about my seemingly-heretical stance on homosexuality. Leave her alone, dude.

Are we playing the question game :)

If so, would it bother you if I told you that we are all "Phorum police" in the sense that we can point out infractions and stupidity?
