Azriel
Ah... God Never Blinks! The author, Regina Brett, is a columnist in Cleveland (where I live) and she wrote an article about two of my dearest friends who are entering with the Franciscan Sisters TOR--the article explained that they were fundraising to be debt free in order to enter with the sisters........... the outcome of the article: because of it, God stirred a local man's heart in such a way that the next day he wrote a check to pay off both of their remaining combined debts. Kicker: This man is Jewish. Praise the Lord, huh? He is so good! Life lesson: The Holy Spirit is perfect in His ways!
Amazingly amesome! Its these types of stories that help me let go of the anxiety and depression! What a reminder of what God is capable of! One from my Grandfather: On secrets: If you can't say it out loud, its not worth saying.
missionseeker
Dance. Do not be a wall flower. It just makes you miserable and it makes you the type of person people do not want to go out with. You do not look as stupid as you probably think you do. Drink to the point of hilarity (Chesterton), not to the point of vomiting (me.) (never have!) Try new things! You cannot decide you don't like something unless you've actually tried it. It really won't hurt you to try it. Unless you're allergic, but hey, then at least you know for next time! Live by the ocean at least once, if you possibly can! Live in the mountains at least once, if you possibly can! Discover beauty in the ordinary things: clean sink, Christmas trees. etc. Do not wait for someone to apologize to you. Suck it up and make an effort. Azriel
most of the things we think are just platitudes have an element of truth, otherwise we wouldn't say them all the time: The things we worry the most about never happen. Its always darkest before the dawn.

BG45
"never give up, never surrender" - Captain Sheridan on Babylon 5 Also from B5, the Centauri Emperor Turhan gave a poignant thing that I think applies to me at least at times, "The past tempts us, the present confuses us, and the future frightens us." MissyP89
"Family is the most important, constant thing you'll ever have. Hang on tight to them." -- my Mom-Mom "Be honest and be a friend to everyone. Life is less trouble that way. And don't worry so much. It's usually not worth it." -- my Grandma "Some things are just out of our hands. Worrying about them changes nothing. We live and we die, and for all we know, it could be tomorrow. So never go to bed angry. Always tell people you love them. And you can do anything you put your mind to." --Mom "You can't look up at a sky full of stars, or at the leaves when they turn, or at the ocean, and tell me there's not Someone up there who made it all ..." --Daddy "You're not Wonder Woman. And there's no reason to be an island. We're not supposed to carry everything alone." -- my confessor "Just because someone has been an arse to you doesn't mean you have to take it out on God." -- my former confessor "Remember, when you carry your cross, Simon of Cyrene will always come to help you. You just have to wait until the fourth station to find him." -- our very own IrishSalesian "The first thing Jesus did when He got the cross was drop it. But look at what He found the strength to do." -- my friend Jesse

MissyP89
okay, it may be the wine talking, but i found this really really hilarious.
It is kind of funny! But when you read it completely seriously, it's pretty profound. The vast majority of the people I love are fallen away or have no religion, and considering I reverted when I was only 17, it was/is a lot to deal with on my own. But sometimes just one at a time, God brings people into my life who will walk along with me. Edited July 11, 2011 by MissyP89
