BG45
Epic Scripture is epic. Hmm...I guess mine would be: Every time you think you've got it, He'll throw you a curveball. But just smell of elderberries it up and say, "Lord, may Your Will be done, not mine." Some of the quotes that have been inspirational to me: "Take my body, or my property but do not try to rule my moral purpose." -Epictetus Let nothing disturb you, Let nothing frighten you, All things pass, God never changes. Patience gains all things, He who has God Finds he lacks nothing, God alone suffices. -Saint Teresa de Avila "The spiritual combat in which we kill our passions to put on the new man is the most difficult struggle of all. We must never weary of this combat, but fight the holy fight fervently and perseveringly." -- St. Nilus "We don't tell children stories to teach them that there are dragons. Children know there are dragons; they meet them every day. We tell children stories to teach them that dragons can be slain." -G.K. Chesterton Today we must translate the words of Scripture into deeds, and instead of speaking saintly words, we must act them. - St. Jerome
Brother Adam
"Just remember, there is a God, and you are not him." - my dad on kicking me out of the house. "There are fundamentally only two prayers..."Lord, thy will be done" or "Fine, have it your way."

southern california guy
Well my philosophy has always been.. 1. It's okay to screw up.. 2. You can't screw up if you don't try.. 3. If you're not screwing up then you're not doing enough with your life!

Sarah147
The only thing that I have learned is that I don't know very much. my favorite sayings: - Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. - If you want to hear God laugh, tell Him about your plans. - God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called. - Instead of telling God how big your storm is, tell the storm how big your God is. - Prayer may not change things for you, but it will change you for things. - The Will of God never takes you to where the Grace of God will not protect you. - Be who you are and say what you feel, because those that matter don't mind, and those that mind don't matter.
Fantastic! Be who you are and be that well. -- Saint Francis De Sales Pride makes us artificial and humility makes us real. -- Thomas Merton To love God is something greater than to know Him. -- St. Thomas Aquinas I fear only one thing---to keep my own will; take it, my God, for I choose all that You choose.--St. Therese of Lisieux Lord, I want whatever you want, because you want it, the way you want it, as long as you want it. - Prayer of Pope Clement XI "Keep the joy of loving God in your heart and share this joy with all you meet especially your family. Be holy let us pray." --Mother Teresa If we really want to love we must learn how to forgive. --Mother Teresa
A clean heart is a free heart. A free heart can love Christ with an undivided love in chastity, convinced that nothing and nobody will separate it from his love. Purity, chastity, and virginity created a special beauty in Mary that attracted God’s attention. He showed his great love for the world by giving Jesus to her. There is a terrible hunger for love. We all experience that in our lives - the pain, the loneliness. We must have the courage to recognize it. The poor you may have right in your own family. Find them. Love them. Before you speak, it is necessary for you to listen, for God speaks in the silence of the heart. Give yourself fully to God. He will use you to accomplish great things on the condition that you believe much more in His love than in your own weakness. Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don't only give your care, but give your heart as well. The more you have, the more you are occupied, the less you give. But the less you have the more free you are. Poverty for us is a freedom. It is not mortification, a penance. It is joyful freedom. There is no television here, no this, no that. But we are perfectly happy. I pray that you will understand the words of Jesus, “Love one another as I have loved you.” Ask yourself “How has he loved me? Do I really love others in the same way?” Unless this love is among us, we can kill ourselves with work and it will only be work, not love. Work without love is slavery. Little things are indeed little, but to be faithful in little things is a great thing. A sacrifice to be real must cost, must hurt, must empty ourselves. The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is love, the fruit of love is service, the fruit of service is peace. --All from Mother Teresa
Edited July 1, 2011 by JoyfulLife

Guest ginaaugusta
Ah... God Never Blinks! The author, Regina Brett, is a columnist in Cleveland (where I live) and she wrote an article about two of my dearest friends who are entering with the Franciscan Sisters TOR--the article explained that they were fundraising to be debt free in order to enter with the sisters........... the outcome of the article: because of it, God stirred a local man's heart in such a way that the next day he wrote a check to pay off both of their remaining combined debts. Kicker: This man is Jewish. Praise the Lord, huh? He is so good! Life lesson: The Holy Spirit is perfect in His ways!
