Priest Washing His Hands

When a priest washes his hands just before the consecration, are there certain prayers that must be said, or is he allowed to pray whatever he wants? Thank you!

There is a specific prayer for the washing of hands during the preparation of the gifts. Currently it sounds like this:

Lord, wash away my iniquity;
cleanse me from my sin.[/quote]

With the new translation of the Roman Missal, it will sound like this:

Wash me, O Lord, from my
iniquity and cleanse me from my
sin.[/quote]
