As are their priests. And, just checked the GIRM, there's no specified posture Other things I love about the Mass: Receiving Jesus on the tongue... it is humbling to literally be fed the Bread of Heaven. To open up my mouth and be filled. The Eucharistic Prayer during which the priest says, "Almight God, may your angels take from this altar..." or something to that sort. Maria
Without the consecration and communion, none of the rest of it would matter at all. sure, some of it would still be beautiful but rubrics and chants and all the rest of it only make sense when placed in the contect of God sharing Himself with us through the Eucharist.
Totally. The rest is supposed to help draw us into that and help us understand, appreciate, and enter more fully into it.
I love offering myself completely to the Father, in union with the Sacrifice of Jesus, and then, after having given completely of myself, being filled completely with my Lord, so that it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me... TeresaBenedicta
I love the Confiteor... and I can't wait for the new translation to come... it's beautiful: I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Luigi
I'll tell you something else I like, although it's not an official part of Mass - older servers helping less experienced servers figure it out & do it right. You know, whispering to them, or pointing and trying to look like they're not pointing, or giving a "This way" with their head. So you've got a twelve-year-old teaching a ten-year-old how to serve at the altar of the Lord. Especially if they're brothers, because you know they don't always cooperate that well.
