OnlySunshine
As some or most of you know, I am currently looking into being a long-term volunteer with a Catholic organization. I've been searching through Pallotti Volunteer Network and Catholic Volunteer Network to look at the opportunities available and I found two so far that I am very interested in. Both have you live with the religious that sponsor the volunteer programs. I am planning to go through AmeriCorps so that I can receive the Educational Grant after a successful year of service. I need the money to complete my Bachelor's degree. I already received my former pastor's approval in 2009 when I was considering volunteering back then and it's saved in AmeriCorps system, so I only need one more. I am planning to go to Mass tomorrow morning to ask my current pastor for a reference since he knows me pretty well now as I am an EMHC and very active in parish community. Please pray that he says yes! I am very excited but also very nervous because both of the opportunities I am interested in require that you live out-of-state. This is a good opportunity to not only serve Christ, but to grow as a human being--spiritually, psychologically, and emotionally. I feel it is necessary that apply my skills to serve the Lord and help my discernment to religious life or marriage.
