StMichael
Truly sick to my stomach. I also despise the way the press is calling Criminal Cuomo a Roman Catholic when he has excommunicated himself from the Church when he "divorced" his wife of 13 years. His current squeeze's brother is gay. With the NYS Senate Republican controlled this should have never passed. Now we can expect the tide to find its way all over the country, even faster once DOMA is erased. As it stands more than half the states that currently allow this travesty to take place came from the judiciary bench, not the legislative branch or even by vote. Thus far not a single state has voted for marriage to be re-defined. Even California voted no to this. The people don't want it, but the politicians want to expand their voter blocks as well as donations. Amazing that Dolan had zero weight to throw around on this. AudreyGrace
The Senator in my area goes to my Church and was initially undecided, although he did end up voting against it as he had promised earlier. He was certainly getting calls from other parishoners lol. It's sad that this happened in my state, especially since Central NY and Upstate is nowhere near as liberal as the city is. Although I can't say that I didn't see it coming.
Truly sick to my stomach. Also, I think it's unfair to say that the people don't want marriage to be redefined to include homosexuals. There are definitely huge groups of activists who are passionate about this cause, both for and against it. Although I do agree that the politicians are looking at this in a political way, not so much as a "social activism" way. But then again, that's politics for you. Archbishop Dolan himself has no impact on NYS Senators. He can preach against it and encourage his Catholics to call their Senators and ask them to vote against it, which I'm sure he did, but it is ultimately up to the people and the Senators. It's sad that another state has this mark. =/ For the sake of His sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
StMichael
Apparently, his live in was very vocal towards him getting this done. This has been reported. Time was, and recently, where the Archbishop would come out against something that would effect our state and they would listen, they did not want an uproar. Hardly unfair, wherever it has been put to a vote by the people it has been voted down. Santa Cruz
I think this song is appropriate for the occasion, "Gomorrah" by Jerry Garcia. "Gomorrah"

Roamin Catholic
Just going from the link that the OP gave...This is the part that really bugs me..
"This is going to be as traditional as it gets. We're going to do it at the Four Seasons, a place that is like gay church to me,"

"I was supposed to have a gay wedding today with a gay couple from New York," she said. Jesus_lol
Hardly unfair, wherever it has been put to a vote by the people it has been voted down.
what is hardly fair is the vast hypocrisy when people crow about this. It does not matter. if the people in a state voted to allow abortion, would that make it ok? wouldnt you laud the government for ignoring those voters and doing what you think is right regardless? If a state such as alabama(no offense to my friends from this state) were to have enacted laws against racism, allowing interracial marriage, desegregation etc in the 50s and 60s, wouldnt that still be the right thing to have done, even if the populace was outspokenly(and violently) against this at the time? I dont particularily care for your reasoning behind your moral convictions, but mindlessly putting this point forward as a viable argument, while ignoring it when that same point would win against other convictions you hold is hypocritical. "It isnt right to do something the people vote against. i mean unless the people are obviously voting wrong" does not work. any idiot could easily apply the same principles to hold up legalization of abortion as the right thing to do.
