A hug just like these two fine and upstanding gentlemen:

Now, now, now - you are just trying to stir the pot again after everything had simmered down :)

I wish I could watch it because I am sure it's very amusing - but being on dial up at 24kps (no joke), all I can see is the still shot of the two guys on the mat. Next time I am in town and have broadband, I will watch it - if I remember!

Ah, too bad. It's Royce Gracie (Brazilian jiu jitsu guy) versus Akebono (Hawaiian-born sumo grand champion). The best part is the size difference. Gracie is/was about 6'1'' and 200 lbs, and Akebono is/was 6'8'' and 486.

After Akebono retired from sumo he opened a restaurant, but the restaurant went under, so he was in some financial trouble. He tried a career in kickboxing and MMA, but it turned out that he just wasn't very good at it (and in Japan they were calling him makebono, which means 'lose'), so he retired from that too. :P He went 1 and 12 kickboxing, and 0 and 4 in MMA, or something rather near that.

The picture above is REALLY Jesus_lol. Those Canadian men are HOT!

The picture below is Nihil. He posts all those pony pictures because they took away his horse due to budget cuts.

You already know my view, but in a vein of transparency, I'll contribute and give my .02.

I don't necessarily see Catholic v. Catholic as a bad thing. Sometimes it is necessary to teach and discuss and duke it out. I do see it as necessarily bad when authentic charity goes out the window (I've been on both sides, so I get it). I think that too often we forget that we cannot convey emotion or inflection through the computer, so people are quick to get defensive...myself included...

I think that having a place to hash out some of the more "controversial" issues is a good thing, because we can all learn from them, but I also think that having a more secure place is a good thing too, because it will eliminate some of the confusion with regard to the nuances of the Church that not everyone will get...specifically non-Catholics or those who are not as interested in the "deep stuff" and just come here for a good time, etc....

I also think that limiting the board to the "Militant" and above is a good idea, because it is they who often times have a more complete perspective, but like everyone else, I think that it is a matter of maturity....myself included...

Overall, I think that it is a good idea, because these issues need to be talked about...as we are trying to correct a hermeneutic of rupture, with a hermeneutic of continuity, Catholic v. Catholic debate and discussion is going to happen. It is inevitable...even a phatmass, so rather than ignore it or pretend that it doesn't apply, we should have a place to go to discuss it...it is important.

I vote A Phamily Affair....

I'm completely against the catholic vs. catholic debate. There are those on the phorum who keep going and going around and around in circles, ad nauseum. I'm totally turned off by it and am very tired of it.

It is a lack of humility on those who keep going in circles ... over and over and over again.

In a phamily there will be differences of opinions ... that is the richness of our Church. And that should be respected. But alas it has not been.

However ... if catholic vs. catholic debate is going to be allowed then DEFINITELY put it in a separate board. So that (even though I do have a Militant tag) I can avoid that board like the plague. And still enjoy phatmass for what it is supposed to be.

A Phamily Affair ... if it is allowed. But again I completely do not like it. It is divisive.
