Mr.Cat
In all walks of life there are people that can irritate you. You must understand what it is that you have influence over. I find the most powerful approach is to have control of your own reaction to the things that irritate you. If you are good at it, you can't be irritated. Why does it annoy you if someone else strongly vocalises their opinion? It's their opinion, they have a right to have it, you don't have to agree with it.
Because for nearly three to four years they have actively stalked me attempting to slander, lie, and harass me. They do so under the guise that its the "catholic" thing to do. When their approached with evidence to the contrary (both to their claims and activity), approached by good catholics disgusted by their behavior, or even when the seriousness of their behavior is brought up they doge it as being a "good catholic". Oddly... there are some catholics who think this sort of behavior is being a good catholic.
sometimes the best thing to do is to leave the situation completely and forever.
I've thought about it. But they have been following me. However, they haven't come to phatmass yet. Apart of the only reason I'm still here. Dust has explained that he finds this kind of behavior deplorable and won't tolerate it.
The same as you would handle a despicable atheist?
I assume there are some terrible atheists and agnostics in the world. But honestly... despite my disagreements or problems with other atheists or agnostics... we all still get along. Very well in fact. Also the few times that their behavior has been questionable, other atheists and agnostics tend to be quick to call them out on it. I know my atheist friends in this situation have been immune to the slander, even those who don't particularly like me, because it doesn't make sense and there is a lack of evidence. So this may bother you but... I've never met a despicable atheist yet. Even when I was a Catholic.
Finally realize that they are actually smarter than you?
Merely because someone disagrees with you or is different, doesn't make them dumber. I can't believe I have to tell a phatmass church scholar this. Who gave you that tag? Edited June 24, 2011 by Mr.CatholicCat

dells_of_bittersweet
With all due respect to the previous posters, I don't think that they represented the Church. How do you handle these people when they are a source of problems?
With love. Our jobs as Catholics is to lead these people back to Christ. We may not enjoy being around them, but we do it for the sake of Jesus.
Ash Wednesday
Right now I'm at a point where I feel so overwhelmed by the way many Catholics are, including in my own family, and as is I currently don't know what to do but offer my sufferings up for conversions and immerse myself in prayer. Not just conversions of people in error and do wrong, but myself as well. Especially and first and foremost, myself. I can't change others on my own, but with God's help I hope to at least change myself. I guess that's where it all has to start, anyway.
Mr CatholicCat proving you to be insincere hardly takes any intelligence. It just takes the ability to copy and paste where you contradict yourself. But since you used to be Catholic and are now an atheist, and you are accusing myself and others of being unCatholic, then do me a favor. Why don't you define how you think a Catholic should behave? Also, even though you are an atheist, should you be held to a similar standard? Do tell Mr Kitty, define the behavior you think is "Catholic." My guess is that you have no real idea. you just don't like being proven wrong.
Winchester
1. Catholics should support threat of violence in redistributing wealth. 2. Only criminals should be protected from execution by the State. Edited June 25, 2011 by Winchester
