Debra Little
I'm religious, but not spiritual. "BOSTON—Father Clancy Donahue of St. Michael Catholic Church told reporters Wednesday that while he believed in blindly adhering to the dogma and ceremonies of his faith, he tried not to get too bogged down by actual spirituality. "I'm not so much into having a relationship with God as I am into mechanically conducting various rituals," Donahue said. "To me, it just feels empty to contemplate a higher power without blindly obeying canon law and protecting the church as an institution." Donahue emphasized that although he did not personally agree with those who pondered the eternal, he had nothing against them." Debra Little
There is one way of setting up spirituality and prayer around 4 temperments: Ignatian, Thomist, Franciscan, and Augustinian. Augustinian Spirituality in this sense is characterized by prayer provoked through external symbols, like statues, icons, incense, and other sacred objects. The object provoke an interior motion towards prayer. Augustinian Spirituality in the order is defined by interiority: The passionate pursuit of God, friendship, and search for truth. Thats a short summary, any questions? Oh yeah Augustine has a lot to do with it. Read his confessions, and you get an idea of how he might differ from Ignatius, Thomas, and Francis.
I think that works for some but for me it is too restricting.

MithLuin
Skip to 15 mins in for the AMAZING offertory dance! (With a lovely round of applause after)
Ah, but if you don't skip ahead, you'll hear the homily about St. Patrick's life, which ends with this: "St. Patrick prayed that the light would never be extinguished, and as he prayed, he got the message, 'Fear not, your apostolate shall never cease.' As he prayed, the light grew in brightness and ceased not, and once more all the hills and valleys in Ireland lit up, and then the angel said, 'Such shall be the abiding splendor of divine Truth in Ireland.' "Patrick: We must be grateful to him for the message that he has brought to us and that has come down through the centuries to us, over 1500 years. Of course, there is the responsibility in us to carry on that faith and to hand it on to the next generation, so that Light may continue to shine brightly in our country. We pray that Patrick will continue to keep us in his care." This was followed by a novena prayer to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. So, they get the point.....but....yeah, no need to have Irish dancing at mass. Noel's angel
They buy into this whole 'everyone is a victim and your sins aren't your fault - everyone goes to Heaven anyway' thing which makes me a bit sick. I don't think they (and yes, I'm sure there are exceptions to the craziness) are bringing people to God through their kooky theology.
