Redemptorist Spirituality - the Passion, Eucharist, Incarnation, and the Blessed Mother... and dedication to God's most abandoned poor. Redemption is offered for all through God's passionate love for each of us. If you don't know much about St. Alphonsus - he's the most amesome guy I know and definitely not popular enough! I like that. A lot.

I'll have to look more into that thanks for the input.

My heart is thoroughly Carmelite. I have looked at other saints and the charisms of different orders but
I always come back to Carmelite.

yeah, spirituality is an on growing process that goes through phases, read Ralph Martin's "The Fulfillment of Desire" to get some good Truth out of that and I know you'll love the book.

Sounds like you already have a good mix though. : )

Thanks! I'll have to check it out

I used to think I was Carmelite, but now I think I mesh more closely with Dominican and Franciscan spiritualities. I am very much into spontaneous prayer like St. Francis, but I love the rosary like the Dominicans. I also base my life on finding truth, so that is a very Dominican quality. :)

I think I'm going to change mine. I don't know if I match with any spirituality except Marian. I am very Marian. I adore everything about the Blessed Mother and cleave to her especially in prayer. I feel such a kinship with her--as if she were my very own biological mother. :)

Ignatian for sure! I love the examen and the unofficial motto of the Jesuits: "Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam", or "For the Greater Glory of God"

Probably the Little Way of St. Therese more than anything, although I think I probably tend to be a bit of this and that and this. I must admit too that when I read the Ruleof St. Francis "to observe the Gospel of Our Lord, Jesus Christ", I was almost won over. That says it all. I think that the Our Father is a whole rule of life and spirituality.

God bless - Barb

I thought about making this a poll, but then decided against it, I just thought it'd be too restrictive.

Anyway, I just wanna know what everyone's spirituality is...as in what is your favorite saint/order/spirituality to follow? I mean we have all kinds of different saints that all had a unique spirituality all their own. Every Order whether it is Franciscan, Jesuit or Benedictine etc have a different spirituality that they share with their founders.

The Catholic Faith is just so unique that we have such a deep well to delve into and learn and internalize, so I'm just curious and I wanna hear about them. If you can't really put it into a category just tell me one that you like a lot.

Personally, I really enjoy Merton's contemplative spirituality, and praising God through work as he has explained in his writings. I enjoy Augustine's praising God in all things and the expansive "Illumination theory" that extends from him. Along with that I love St. Francis' observance of God's Creation and how He permeates it.

That's only a small tid bit I could go on for maybe pages haha.

So what is your favorite?

My spirituality is Catholic-Christian. I love all my sisters and brothers. They all make me feel good, so I share in all of their spiritualities...I've recently found that by embracing those things I can better understand my sisters and brothers...I also don't get pigeonholed that way.

The Catholic Christian should, in my humble opinion, ecompass all things...we should just love each other and not try to think to hard about it. If we just love one another, it doesn't matter if one is Jesuit, or Franciscan, or Dominican....we are all one People of God and that is all that matters....

Unfortunately (in Ireland at least) the Redmptorist Order has gone a bit crackers.

[font="Tahoma"][b]My spirituality is the Ave Crux Spes Unica (Hail the Cross, Our Only Hope)- The Congregation of Holy Cross, who was founded by Blessed Basil Moreau.

The Congregation of Holy Cross spirituality consists of a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows, and St. Joseph the Worker.

I don't think I could restrict myself to any one spirituality. I sort of have my own, and it draws from some different spiritualities.

I love the joy and simplicity of Franciscans. I love the persuit of truth of the Dominicans. I like Marian spirituality. I looooove the focus on loving Jesus, growth in contemplative prayer, etc. of the Carmelites. I'm a mish-mash. :hehe:

Probably other spiritualities, too, that I'm not aware of...

Then Carmelite would fit perfectly. It is based on the Blessed Mother.
