cantstopdancin9
I think uniforms are good in the fact that they preserve modesty cause it annoys me so much how some of these girls dress these days. However, I love being able to show personality with my clothes and I really like getting ready for school and picking out my stuff and doing my hair and stuff but that's just me. I don't think people should get too obcessed with their looks though. It is very annoying trying to stay in dress code cause the teachers send students to the office every five seconds! It's really bad cause there's so many rules sometimes we don't even know that we're breaking the dress code. So yea, there's my two cents.
daugher-of-Mary
I like our uniforms to a degree. The year I came in as a freshman, they changed the uniforms to a new company so for girls it is navy/khaki slacks or skorts with a polo shirt. The bad thing is that skirt length isn't enforced AT ALL in my school. The old uniform, which the upperclassmen are still wearing is absolutely attrocious. Our handbook says girls are to have their skirts no more than 5 inches above the knee, and would you believe kids actually shorten their skirts further?!? Argh!! What do you gain from wearing a super short skirt anyway?
ilovechrist
another newbie! welcome daughter-of-Mary! yeah... girls seem to think that you gain more attention with a super short skirt.. they can think what they want.
Rebirth flame
yeah... i'm kinda torn on the issue of uniforms... i know they'd be easier to get ready and everything, and they'd probably be a lil' cheaper, but still, i would never want to wear the same kinda clothes as everybody else everyday of the week... just my 2 cents... hopeful1
been there, done that. Went to catholic schools all my life until now (public communtity college) and been through jumpers, to skirts, to a dress code in high school (any solid color polo shirt w/no logos, with khaki/ green khaki/navy "chino' style pants, no open toed shoes), to school uniforms. First 3years of hs was a nice change to the yellow blouse w/ jumper and green shirt in 8th grade with plaid skirt. Freshman year girls even got to wear skirts (short and long) until my class ruined it for everyone. basically shortskirts+ stairs + thong underwear =not a good combination, so that privelege got taken away. then they pushed it with the polos being too short and all this other carp so my senior year the school switched to uniform polos (still got to keep the pants tho, but they couldn't have outside stitching on the pocket-and unfortunatly i don't have a light to stand under for that one) and i had to buy all these polo shirts i would only wear for one year! And my class still complains about the school changing it but they're the ones responsible for it! they're the reason why we lost the dress up priveleges for spirit week and senior dress up days. On one hand, it's really nice not to have to worry about what to wear in the morning, but at my school it was all about who could push the limit more, even when we switched to uniforms, and administration spends too much time disciplining for dress code violations, like a five day suspension, and too little on behavioral discipline (hit someone, one person gets an after school). Carnanc
I went to Catholic school 1st through 5th grade and wore uniforms. I thought they were pretty cool, but at that time it seemed kind of strict for me when they always made you have your shirt tucked in perfectly. now though, looking back I think they were an excellent idea, I can't explain it they really do make you feel different about the school. [/quote] They're just smiling because they're getting paid to, lol. Those uniforms are much nicer looking than what I had for dress code at my school. I wish we could have worn that. Maddalena
I like uniforms. :3 I think they're cute. The guys look handsome in their uniforms, and the girls look pretty in theirs. You odn't have to worry about what you're going to wear the next day cause the outfit's the same. If you can't express your individuality because of your uniform, express it through your backpack or something. I've never come across a school that restricted what you do to your backpack.
