IgnatiusofLoyola
I'll go to Texas in summer!!! The results of the trip can be summed up in the following emotes
Dream on. Personally, I don't consider that I've committed any sin lately that is serious enough to deserve the penance of visiting Texas in summer. (The rest of you may feel free to disagree--but no need to tell me about it.) Personally, I think the best penance I could impose on you and DS, who are a bad influence on Lisa, would be to forbid you from hitting each other (or anyone else) with folding chairs (or any other object) for at least a month, maybe two months. BTW--Good luck finding a Carmelite community (or ANY Catholic religious Order) where hitting other Sisters with folding chairs is standard practice.
I dunno. I visited a Carmel last week (not THAT kind of a visit, calm down people), of the Teresian reform, and it seemed as if a good half of the sisters were wearing SHOES. Which raises the question, in my mind, of how they can be OC*D*. It seems a metaphysical conundrum.
Don't some Carmelites wear shoes if they're going to be out in garden or doing something that would be awkward/dangerous in sandals? But, Carmelites confuse the heck out of me. I am respectful of others' attraction to the Order and all its variations, but I sure as heck don't understand it. But, I were OCD, I still wouldn't advertise it. Some things aren't other people's business. Maybe Vee needs a Commmunity where they all wear football helmets. Then DS could be extern Sister. LaPetiteSoeur
4. Don't make me choose. Yes, there are at least two communities of OP's I am quite fond of--one in England, one in Summit, NJ. However, MY Sisters (across the street) are SCC's (Sisters of Christian Charity--not to be confused with the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity). They are mostly Ignatian (can't argue with that, considering my screen name) and their charism is love, inspired by the Eucharist. They call me "kid" since it's a retirement home. Most of the younger Sisters are in New Jersey (very near Summit, actually). Lots of nuns in New Jersey, apparently.
There are TONS of sisters and nuns in NJ. There are at least five motherhouses--actually probably more like 15-20. One of the good things about NJ! The SCCs are fantastic. One of their sisters was the sister at a discernment retreat I went to. She was great!
