My Little Sister

Please pray for Jessica, my little sister. She's a junior in HS, and was rushed by ambulance to the hospital when her blood pressure decided to shoot through the roof. She was released, but is going to see a cardiologist on Monday.

A little background on Jessica--she's been through so much. We met through the program Big Brothers Big Sisters six years ago, and while we stayed "sisters," through the program for two years, until I moved out of state, we've done our best to stay in touch. When we met, Jess had just turned 11 and lived with her dad. Her mother wasn't in her life, and while I didn't know all the reasons, what it boiled down to was that every time Jess visited with her, she would end up extremely upset and broken. Toward the end of our two years, it began to get tough to get a hold of Jessica. While we often played phone tag, I was flat out not getting in touch after leaving messages on their home answering machine, and ended up calling the BBBS agency to let them know. As it turned out, Jessica's dad had been molesting her for years, and she'd finally gotten the courage to tell someone. She went to live with her mother in an undisclosed part of the state. When all of that got sorted back out we were able to reunite and keep up our relationship.

Jessica is 16 now, and is honestly one of the strongest people I know. She went through an angry period, but has come out on the other side as a very happy teenager with big plans for her life, and she gives all credit to God. She is absolutely in love with God and is so inspired to live fully and not be held back by her past.

Please pray for Jessica's health. Her mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health. Please help for her to see what it is she needs to do to keep herself healthy in life, and to take care of the beautiful temple God has blessed her with.
