The Fallacy Of Sainthood
i was using confession as an example. i could use ten thousand examples of why someone that appears to have led a good life, and did, but never did any of those things that would put you in heaven.

like confession.
like privately worshipping satan.
like privately being an atheist.
like privately being a buddhist.
etc etc etc etc.

the fact is, the catholic church has no authority to say "this person is in heaven".

because no one knows all the facts.

for all i know Augustine tried to kill himself and never confessed.

for all you know it could have happened.

and don't patronize me, i know how canonization works.

and stop trying to prove that you don't worship saints.
i honestly don't care if you do or not.

(last bit isnt directed toward you but to some earlier post stating that the Catholic Church can never be in error or never deceived)

that's completely ridiculous.

i hate to be so obvious, but the witch hunts and the inquisitions of the middle ages were mostly the catholic church's doing.
Have you heard the term "Devil's Advocate"? A DA's job is to find evidence to prove that a prospective candidate did not lead a life of heroic sanctity and does not meet the very strict requirements for formal sainthood. If a person had engaged in any of the behaviors you suggest, the DA would find it out through his investigations and the process of canonization would be halted.

Read all about it here: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/01168b.htm

The Church is "the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth" (1 Tim 3:15). She can never deceive nor be deceived in matters of faith or morals. Her authority comes from God -- she was founded by Jesus Christ, who is God, and is guided by the Holy Spirit, who is God -- and she speaks for God (he who hears you, hears me . . . Luke 10:16 et al.). Her immunity from error is limited to those two areas: faith and morals. She teaches the truth and nothing but the truth.

I addressed the matter of the Inquisitions in an earlier post, which I hope you will read.

Peace be with you.

Ave Cor Mariae, Likos
its only wrong if they're credible sources to you...

thats like trying to prove God exists to an atheist by using the Bible... or your decrees, doctrines, and documetns of Catholicism.

oh my.
Ok...EVERYBODY hold up. Even in protestant creeds, they talk about a communion of saints. What do you yourself believe about this?

Not at all.

What is a creditable resource?
Answer: Encyclopedia Britannica, noted professional historians, and documents from pre-1000 AD.

Maybe you should read the article before you try to comment on it... that would be the smart thing to do.
