I was wondering what you gals do when liquid foundation makeup becomes too sticky in the summer? I am really tired of it making my face sticky and I had to wash it off today because I think I'm getting contact dermatitis on my eyelid. I used to have a friend at my old job who wouldn't wear foundation during the summer because she said it didn't let your skin breathe. I agree with her. The only problem is, I have early onset rosacea thanks to my dad, and my face appears ruddy and blotchy red. I have a fair complexion, so it really sticks out. Lately, I have been using Revlon's foundation and I used to use L'Oreal.

I would use powder, but I have dry skin, too, so that wouldn't work. I've tried mineral makeup, but I'm allergic to it--it made me feel like I had a thousand bugs crawling on my face and was so itchy! I've thought about tinted moisturizer, but I don't know if it would cover the rosacea since I usually use a cream foundation. Help!

tinted moisturizer works ;) :like: i have fairly pale skin, and it really does help. Most days I just put it on and don't do anything else.

Does it cover redness? What kind do you use? I'm thinking about looking into Eucerin's Redness Relief line and seeing if they have a tinted moisturizer. I really wouldn't mind going without makeup if I could find something that would clear up the rosacea.

Aveeno positively radiant tinted moisturizer (fair to light) SPF 30. i do get occasional redness around my jaw line, and it does help. it won't eliminate it completely, but like i said, it does even out the splotchiness of my face.

You can make your own tinted moisturizer by mixing a tidge of your foundation with your moisturizer. Just mix it really well before applying. I used to do this in the summer before I started using mineral makeup.

Unfortunately, I tried Aveeno's tinted moisturizer, and I must be sensitive to the fragrance because it made my redness worse. I love Aveeno's hand lotion, but their face stuff is not good for me. :(

I use CG Smoothers foundation, since it's part water and isn't as heavy as other foundations. For me, it's not sticky at all; I hardly notice it's there. I used to use Maybelline Pure Makeup which was even BETTER (50% water!) but they discontinued it!

NatureLuxe is supposedly even better, though. I'm going to try that when my current one runs out - the packaging is similar to what the Maybelline Pure Makeup was, so I'm assuming they're trying to cater to the people who used to use it.

Also Simply Powder or Ultimate Finish are kind of like combined foundation/powder/concealers and are particularly good for dry skin.

Anyway, my bet is on the NatureLuxe. If it's anything like the Pure Makeup line, you'll hardly even notice it's there - no sticky feeling at all, even in REALLY hot weather. The CG Smoothers is a close second; I really like it, anyway!

I have the same red blotchy skin. Dang Irish father. I use a combination of a stick concealer a shade lighter than my skin, and Maybelline pure makeup foundation that comes in a tube a shade darker than my skin. I've tried every concealer made, and they pretty much all are the same, so I use the cheap one called NYC. I've learned how much of each to mix together on the skin to match my color. The foundation is water based, and it survived summers in Florida without getting sticky.

Ash Wednesday

Have you seen a dermatologist? Is it possible the redness and itchiness is also eczema?

I don't wear foundation except sometimes after I moisturize I put on a little powder if I have a little flare up but I have a friend that makes a lot of her own makeup and moisturizing products naturally, maybe you could try that if you don't find a product you like.

I haven't seen a derm. doctor because I can't afford it. I know it's rosacea because it doesn't normally itch unless I put something on it that I'm sensitive, too. I have very sensitive skin to begin with. I've thought about making my own cosmetics, too. I was doing some research online and saw that you can use olive oil for moisturizer. I may give it a try. I started using Dove Sensitive Skin Bar Soap for my face today. It works pretty well and already decreased the redness. ;)
