havok579257
Is it a sin to not rebuke/correct someone like a co-worker who uses the Lord's name in vain? if it is a sin, could it ever be a mortal sin or could it only be venial sin since your not saying the Lord's name in vain? what is a catholic's responsibility toward someone like a co-worker who uses the Lord's name is vain? Brother Adam
I would worry more whether or not you have been complicit in the sin through your own thoughts when someone else takes the Lord's name in vein. For instance, did you laugh at a crude joke? Whether it is a sin not to correct someone you have to ask if you are in a position to correct them and if it is your responsibility. Even then, at most I would wager it would be a venial sin of omission, and not mortal. You are not responsible for their sin. When you have the opportunity to correct someone in love without sounding holier than thou, it can be truly eye opening when blasphemy has become so common place, and it often makes people think about that fact that it is still offensive.
