Ed Normile
God bless all these selfless heroes. Yesterday at mass in Springfield Ohio at St. Bernards they had a ceremony after mass with all those who served walking up carrying flags to the altar. This one old man was from WW2, he was the last one and walked by himself, he looked as if he would barely make it, he proudly carried the flag, although slowly and faltering along his path. I would so proud of this man that I had tears streaming down my face, he had to be in his 80's and was ravaged by age yet he managed to carry this flag on a pole and kept it straight despite his failing health. He did not do it for his own self , you could see on his face he did it for those who served and for his country. He was still a hero after all these years. This was from last summer, I happened across a traveling tribute of the Vietnam memorial wall, I stopped to take some pictures and I talked with some of the people there. Dear Jesus please comfort the families of those who have lost loved ones to war, please bless the United States of America and grant us peace. amen ed
