Totus Tuus
Just my .02, but I would pay extra for the gym that's close by IF you tend to make excuses not to go. First of all, you won't want to waste your money. Secondly, you won't be able to tell yourself it's too far away. If you're disciplined, though, and ALREADY have a daily workout routine in place, I think you should look around and find a gym offering a deal. Another thing is to make sure you like the atmosphere. No matter how cheap or expensive the membership is, you're not going to want to go to the gym if you don't feel comfortable in the ambiance there (I belonged to a 24 Hour Fitness one time where it seems like only models and plastic surgery buffs on steroids worked out haha! Needless to say my average figure felt very out of place there).
Totus Tuus
PS- My ALL TIME FAVORITE place to work out is the YMCA! No pressure, really laid back atmosphere, but they have all the amenities, equipment, classes, and opportunities that a normal gym has and are a LOT cheaper. When I visit my hometown, I go there every day.
fides' Jack
As a male, a husband, and a father, I can no longer justify going to the gym. If I want to get in shape, I'm going to have to do it from home. This is true year-round, but especially during the summer. These days, just being in a place like that becomes a near occasion of sin. Lisa
If you aren't in a hurry, you can sign up for Groupon or Living Social- they highlight gym memberships quite frequently and discounts range from 50-80% off (it might just be for 6 months or a year, but that would be a start)
Totus Tuus
Groupon just released a $10 for a 1-Month membership at Planet Fitness coupon... And it includes enrollment. Edited June 5, 2011 by Totus Tuus
