I have a page on Facebook under the title, "Defund Planned Parenthood Now" if anyone wants to join. :) I think it will help to raise awareness about this.

Well, Indiana did the same thing and the white house declared it illegal. My intuition is that PP is not going to be defunded anywhere, ultimately.

The reason what we did works is because Title X (which is family planning) $ got reallocated. It's not longer possible (this year, at least) to give that money to family planning, which would in turn give some of it to PP, because it has been entirely cut out of the TX Title X budget. It was given to worthier causes like Autism funds.

So, it is possible to defund them :) We had an incredibly strong goal driving us in TX -- remember the PP built in Houston a couple of years ago? Biggest mill in the [s]Western Hemisphere[/s] world.

I believe the indiana law is being challenged in court, and so far it is holding up (last i heard, from a thread here, i can't find it though). Ultimately, it will go to the supreme court. I don't think the White House really has any say yet.

Correct, the Indiana law is currently in effect, but the current administration would love to kill the law. The governor of Indiana did some research and found 800 alternatives to abortion providers for medicaid, so it seems hard to claim that there will be any hardship for medicaid patients.
