carmenchristi
I read a neat article not too long ago about the pros and cons of social networks. If I can dig it up, I'll post it in a comment. Anyway, it got me thinking. It stated one of the spiritual dangers is that regular posting/blogging etc. can lead to excessively trusting your own opinions and points of view. It's interesting to consider that with the "new" spiritual dangers that our modern society presents the same rules apply as they always have. I've found this site and these message boards to be a great way to get to know people and to better understand certain issues of faith and morals. I also hope to be of some contribution with my own discreet presence, but I try to be very careful in posting because it's quite easy to be hypocritical when you are just typing away. Most of all, I realize that it is very necessary to ask Our Lord for humility in posting because I've found it very true that this form of sharing does, infact, open one up to the tendency to trust oneself and one's own opinions/knowledge. At the same time, it can help foster a spirit of dialogue and detachment. It all depends on how you affront it. Have any of you encountered similar difficulties? How do you deal with them? Luigi
The Greeks say, "There is nothing new under the sun." The French say, "Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose" (The more things change, the more they remain the same). I think that applies to boards and chat rooms, just as it did in face to face conversations in earlier times. Personally, I think it's easier to remain detached on a chat board; I've never even met these people, I can't see their faces or read their body language, I can't hear their tone of voice.
