It's important to know everything you can about a candidate, in my opinion. I generally have agreed with his opinions so far, but being a GOOD candidate for the Presidency is so much more than just that!
EcceNovaFacioOmni
Can someone explain why the map is concerning?
Lilllabettt
I saw that map and thought: what on there is so bad? I had to actually read the explanation to get the point. Frankly I think if you are looking for a person who isn't connected to those organizations, you might as well vote for Pepe Le Pew (disqualified for being a skunk and French) Politics is the art of "the possible." Herman is a bad candidate not because he has these connections but because he has too few of them, assuming this map is representative.
Lilllabettt
dude --- he's a member of the federal reserve board. which is par for the course, folks. Edited May 23, 2011 by Lilllabettt
EcceNovaFacioOmni
That's what I thought, but I actually think this is a pretty clean record. Romney has a history with big government healthcare and Pawlenty has a past with global warming (which he has now repudiated). I'm not saying Cain is the man, but we're not going to find someone with a spotless record. That's the nature of politics, it's not always black and white. Cain's undoing, for better or worse, is that he has no political resume. It will be hard to criticize Obama as unqualified while holding Cain up as a worthy alternative. Nihil Obstat
Cain supports TARP, so he's probably kind of an idiot economically. At least he wants a gold standard though.
AudreyGrace
hm. i think the only thing i like about him is his pro-life agenda. otherwise, he comes off as politically ignorant and inexperienced. =/ i don't see him winning against obama, to be honest. (NOT saying i like obama more, because i don't.)
4588686
He seems like an interesting person. If he wern't a religious bigot I would be more inclined to listen to him.
Amppax
I don't see any possible republican candidates winning against Obama, although there is still some time for one to come forward. Edited May 23, 2011 by Amppax
jkaands
The question is: Would Cain be running for the presidency, if he is, if he were white? Would anyone support him if he were white? Would anyone think he stood a chance if he were white? He has no experience. No degree in law or political science. He has never held political office. He has run big fast food companies that are helping kill our country. Does this recommend him? He's a social conservative, which people on this forum think is good. There are a lot of rich CEO white social conservatives around--why not suggest them? He's being put forward because he's conservative, Republican, presumably rich--and black. To counter the race factor. I think that this is a very cynical, racist ploy.
