Katholikos
Thanks be to God, we have a new bishop -- Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted has already done a world of good for our diocese in a very short time. He trained in Rome and was an assistant to JPII. He's incredibly intelligent and thinks just like The Great One. In fact, JPII personally selected him for our very troubled Diocese of Phoenix, bypassing other recommendations submitted to him. Bishop Olmsted speaks five languages, and we're about 30% Hispanic. Three things he did almost immediately was to begin enforcement of the GIRM, authorize the Tridentine Latin Mass to help bring schismatics back into the barque of Peter, and take down the "Reserved for the Bishop" sign in the Diocesan Center parking lot. Instead of the "Bishop's Residence," he lives with four other priests in the rectory of the Cathedral -- which is a very ordinary parish Church. Perhaps news of our new bishop has already been reported to phatmass, but good news bears repeating. Bishop Olmstead came to us from the Diocese of Wichita. Thanks, Wichita! I LOVE THIS CHURCH AND THIS BISHOP! Ave Cor Mariae, Likos

Thy Geekdom Come
Excellent! Many of my fellow semmies are from Wichita and if I know what's what, you'll have tons of new vocations of orthodox seminarians in no time! I'm glad he instituted the GIRM...I was visiting family on Easter as a child down in Phoenix and the parish we went to tried to have Eucharist with the matter of banana bread... That's a good bishop that you just got! I'm an Omaha Semmie, by the way, and I think I can understand why you would want to go there... He'll be VERY good for Phoenix, you just wait and see! Iacobus
My Bishop is pretty good. The only thing I may complain about is the "This parking Spot is Resevered for Bishop Doran" at Cliffbreakers (A really high class dinning place in Rockford). Eucharist with the matter of banana bread...

I was only in like third grade then, so I didn't know what that meant, but looking back on it...that really ticks me off.

They've already been given a vocation and a flock, they have already been given so much in the spiritual life, but then they go and continue to seek excessive worldly riches and recognition... I hate that. I like Bishop O'Malley and what he did... As for the bishop's mansion, I wouldn't live in one, but I can understand that there is one, if, for instance, guests of the diocese stayed...you wouldn't want them to stay in a hotel and their expense. It's good to splurge on guests.
Paladin D
Jesus in the form of banana bread, what is that implying to heathens?

That's just plain wrong.[/quote] I know it's wrong. The semmies at the Josephinum are forced about one weekend a month to go to Mass outside the school and many of them go to the nearby Newman Center. Well, apparently it asks members to bake the hosts for the Mass and the kids often don't do it properly and the Eucharist is still valid, but illicit.
