Nihil Obstat
What do you think the chances are that I've read those quotes well before you posted them and possibly before you ever heard of Cardinal Ottaviani? (chances are pretty good) Did you not read my post that said that the Novus Ordo is also a part of Tradition? I figure as long as you're assuming I don't read what you post, You probably don't read what I say. And I still disagree with your premise. I still think you are trying to evangelize to orthodox Catholics.
I don't care when you read it. You're ignoring it now, in order to focus on a minute and mainly irrelevant sentence in an earlier post. Oh, but I forgot, I'm the obnoxious one. Besides that, your accusation that I'm "trying to evangelize orthodox Catholics" is silly and groundless. I'm talking about my beliefs, and since they're not currently in vogue at this site, it's become necessary to defend my beliefs as well. Frankly that's kind of sad (again, I said nothing not expressed by authorities), but it's the way it is.

NOBODY and I mean NOBODY is attacking your beliefs!! For the record, (and I will speak for all the phatmass phamily on this one) WE ARE ALL HAPPY that you find the EF to be the best place for you to celebrate the mass. WE ARE ALL 1000% supportive of you and everyone you know who has found peace, reverence and holiness in the Latin Mass! I mean this with all my heart!! What is being said is that your passive aggressive air of superiority is really annoying. And this self imposed martyrdom is soooooooo boring!! When you use comparative words, you are MAKING COMPARISONS and it annoys people when you do so. BTW I read and was quizzed the quotes before you were born.
I have a problem when we start discussing which mass is better, and which Catholics are more reverent.

...i think it is also dangerous to even begin to think you can measure the reverence of another person...

I dont understand why you have to make a patronizing remark like that to DS

Arrogance is a terrible thing.

Oh, right, I forgot that the Traditional Latin Mass attendees are the real Catholics and the rest of us are just stupid pew warming yokels.
Doesn't seem to be my problem. All of these comments are directed at you. Its not the age card. (although I am older and I formally studied this stuff) Its you assuming that I don't read. That's insulting. Oh and I'm still wondering if you accept that the Novus Ordo is a part of Tradition
CatherineM
Nihil I have also found your approach to this topic as condescending. You didn't use to act this way. The best analogy I can compare it to is someone who used to smoke, and has now quit, or a dry drunk. I understand how excited you are. I grew up where tent revivals got everyone into a fervor. That kind of heat can burn itself out. I think it is possible to really be on fire without thinking that everyone else is ungifted or unreverent because we don't feel the fire the same way that you do. Nihil Obstat
However, just for the benefit of everyone else reading this thread: I did not say that everyone at the new Order Mass is less reverent or less gifted. I said that on average I tend to find more of these people at the usus antiquior. To read anything beyond that is not at all what I was saying, nor did I imply it. This will, for now, be my last post on this thread.
Actually, you did:
Or maybe, just maybe, some people are provided by God with a particularly gifted understanding of the Liturgy
Particularly: (Adv.) To a higher degree than is usual or average Especially; Specially; Notably. In other words: "Some people are provided by God with a[n above average] gifted (implying that others have an understanding that is at best average or below average) understanding of the Liturgy [and these people attend the Traditional Latin Mass]." (Implications in brackets, editor's notes in parentheses.) Also, the reason your ideas are not "in vogue" here is because, if you'll recall, the vast majority of people who were of that persuasion decided to split and form their own online community some time ago. And that's fine - it's a free country, as they say - but you shouldn't be surprised that when all of the proponents of an idea decide to go someplace else, the idea suddenly becomes less popular. That's pretty simple and straightforward cause and effect.
