EJames2
I was over at Quarr Abbey a few days ago (Benedictine monks) and it did strike me they should either have work habits or turn them up the way nuns do - we were there for Sext and one monk came in from the farm with his lovely black habit caked in mud at the bottom! It did make me smile, especially as he was late so came in through the church rather than the monastery
hmm i understood Quarr was closing??, due to the fact of their not being enough monks left to keep canonical Chapter.....like having only 7 now? and yes work habits are excellent, but sadly the exception in mens Communities.. The last I heard was that they are actually likely to become an even bigger part of Island life due to restructuring of the parishes here. So while I cannot say for definate, I think it is highly unlikely they are closing.

Funny story actually. He came up to my mother while she was holding our youngest at the time, scooped up the child and said: This child is more mine than it is yours. Then he ran away with my brother in his arms. My mother was left to explain to a group of women that he had specifically interceded for my brother while he was in the womb. And no, Father definitely does not have loose morals. :D That man loves babies, I think he would take all of my brothers in as monks if he could haha :D Benedictine Monks of Wesminster Abbey Mission BC
