Check this out: "Recently, Rapunzel was awarded the title "Best Princess Ever" on an online poll, ahead of popular contendors Cinderella and Jasmine, and tangible ladies of regal affair Diana Spencer and Kate Middleton." MargaretTeresa
Belle. Hands down, best princess. And Rapunzel is too a princess. I mean, sure she didn't know it for the longest time, but she is a KIDNAPPED PRINCESS. (silly disney...)
Keep in mind, "Disney Princess" is actually an official franchise that exists within the wider Disney brand. It was established in 2000 or something like that, so obviously it couldn't then have included princesses which were coming down the line, which includes Rapunzel and Tiana from Princess and the Frog. Alice, Tinkerbell, Giselle (Enchanted), Rapunzel, and Esmerelda, are all considered unofficial Disney princesses, but for one reason or another they're not included within the actual franchise. In the case of Giselle it's because of additional royalty payments, Tinkerbell is already part of the Disney Fairies line, and I suppose Alice and Esmerelda aren't considered princess-like enough. Rapunzel I imagine will be added to the line (like I said before it makes good business sense considering her popularity), and the only reason she isn't now is likely that Tangled is such a recent movie.
