I'm trying to find a full-length photo of this rather unappealing chasuble. I have found some with a bit more shown:

I guess Armani has a 'hideaway' on the Island where the Bishop was dedicating/inaugurating a new church, hence the sea theme. Also, it is green? I thought we were in Easter... vestments are white, no? I'd like to see the rest in the set. Actually, by seeing more of it, it does look a bit better. By cutting off the bottom half, I assumed the seaweed, starfish, et all continued to the hem of the garment. That would have been really tacky.

I guess it is growing on me... but it doesn't really bring my thoughts to Christ nor the Eucharist looking at it. I just find the wheat & grapes too stylized and hidden. I don't think I would have realized they were even there if the article hadn't mentioned them. Plus, his mitre doesn't match... that is a terrible faux pas. You would think Armani would have thought of that...

Also, some interesting quotes in the story:

Mogavero said the vestments had turned heads, particularly among female parishioners...

Now I remember what this reminded me of. A little mermaid shower curtain.

Trust the Italians to come up with something like this. Gotta love 'em :-)

But I don't like it. It looks tacky.

Call me crazy, (or Italian) but I kinda like it.

I always was a sucker for silk...
