The Justice Department is seeking a permanent injunction to shut down a black market business at an Amish farm in Lancaster County.

The FDA says Daniel Allgyer is producing, packaging, selling and distributing raw milk for human consumption at the Rainbow Acres Farm in Kinzers.

The deliveries are crossing state lines, which violates federal law. The FDA says raw milk can contain a wide variety of harmful bacteria and should not be consumed
I can just imagine what Louis Pasteur would say about drinking non-pasteurized milk.

Gonna have to pull a Sterny and say that this is wrong. You wanna drink raw milk, drink raw milk.

Yep.

Doesn't the FBI have better things to do?

If they were passing this off as pasteuried, that'd be one thing. But if people want to roll the dice then that's on them

I'll never look at those bearded fellows in horse drawn carts the same way again...they better watch out for the Untouchables.

Funny too that raw milk is commonplace in France. Supposedly che[s][/s]ese made from pasteurized milk is considered cr[s][/s]ap.

edit: danged philters.

Yeah, when he showed me the articles last night, I was thrown into a new dimension where I actually agree with Sternhauser! Particularly when they talk about a family being held at gunpoint. Seriously? They're AMISH! What are they going to do? Spray the guys with unpastureized milk?

I hadn't had unpasteurised Parmesan before moving here, but it tastes so much better. And of course unpasteurised Brie is better. I know people fear listeria from unpasteurised cheeses, but that's remedied with a glass of red wine. ;)

Mellowdrama doesn't typically help one's case. Families aren't generally held at gunpoint because of their choice in dairy.

Difference in magnitude, not in kind. People are routinely held at gunpoint because they want to smoke one particular leafy plant.

What is raw milk?

If you mean milk straight from the cow then I find nothing wrong with it (used to drink it as a young girl)

Raw milk, as in unpasteurized. Some people believe that it is healthier, there are some good bacteria or some such that is destroyed through pasteurization. Can't say that I buy that, but if they want to drink raw milk, let 'em!
