Just as a quick refesher, since we do have a dozen Popes Pius, Pope St. Pius V is most well known for his role in the Counter Reformation. In addition to excommunicating Queen Elizabeth I and changing the papal wardrobe from red to white with red accessories (because he was a Dominican), he promulgated the rite of the Mass now known as the Extraordinary Form, in addition to promulgating the Catechism of the Council of Trent, which is sometimes (rarely) referred to as the Catechism of Saint Pius V.

Which means that while his hands may have been a bit too full in dealing with other liturgical issues to give a great deal of attention to the sacrament of matrimony (which surely would have seemed to be the most stable of all sacraments at that time, granted the exception of Henry VIII's annulment issues) you could easily quote from the Catechism of the Council of Trent as an oblique quote from Pope St Pius V ;) It's sneaky, but I would probably do it myself!

Or, if worse came to worse, you could use this authentic Pope St Pius V quote as a referrence to marriage: "O Lord, increase my sufferings and my patience!" :)

Well, in that case, here are some amesome quotes from a (very soon to be) blessed Pope and several saintly doctors of the Church:

"Marriage is an act of will that signifies and involves a mutual gift, which unites the spouses and binds them to their eventual souls, with whom they make up a sole family – a domestic church." -- Pope John Paul II

"In particular, you must not seek money when you are about to take a bride. You must consider that marriage is not a business venture but a fellowship for life." -- St. John Chrysostom

"Marriage is the key to the control of the desires; it is the seal of unshakeable friendship; it is drink from a hidden spring; strangers cannot taste it; it bubbles up yet cannot be drawn from the outside. Those who are united in the flesh form one soul and purify their religion by their reciprocal love" -- St Gregory Nanzianus

"There is no union so precious and so fruitful between husband and wife as that of holy devotion, in which they should mutually lead and sustain each other." -- St. Francis de Sales
