Tally Marx
So, I have a question for everyone! If you could ask a homeschooler-- or group thereof-- something about their experience homeschooling what question would you ask them? I am looking for questions. I am working on a project. Be forewarned: I won't answer your questions (probably). I just need to know the question. I know this sounds more than weird, but please bear with me. I need your help. Thanx alot! BG45
Hmm. Does the state require a teacher to certify what your parents taught you was at grade level? (I know in WV this is the law when it comes to homeschooling).

Cherie
Do you find it difficult to find and make friends? Do you ever wish you were at a school? Is there anything you feel like you're "missing out on" because you're homeschooled? Do your parents have a difficult time with the homeschooling laws/homeschooling supervisors? (However that state is set up) Do you think you will homeschool your own children? Do you have a strict daily schedule? Do you have a special "classroom" in your house where you do your school work, or can it be anywhere? Do you help any younger siblings with their work? Overall, are you happy that you are homeschooled? Is there anything you would change about the way you're homeschooled? Do you like the curricula you are using? There are some! I can come up with more, maybe!
Tally Marx
So basically there's nothing in this thread for us and everything for you.
Well, I'll answer some questions... but I don't know if I'll get to all of them. Plus, answering them all would defeat the purpose of the project (which is, to answer your questions, just not here or now). Tell you what, I'll SHOW ya'll the project when it's done, okay? Tally Marx
Do you find it difficult to find and make friends?
I didn't- I had a group. My group had about two hundred kids in it. We did sports, frield trips, teens nights, video yearbooks, literature group, etc. I had a band, a club, an apologetix group, a newspaper, a magazine.... there were plenty of people. For those who do not have a homeschool group, there are still ways to meet people. 4-H, Church functions... some states allow homeschoolers to play sports with the local public schools. There's local clubs and groups. Things like that. Generally, homeschoolers are very social, able to interact easily with people of all ages. Perhaps the most difficult factor in making friends are the stereotypes. Sometimes, it is difficult to make friends when other children expect you to be a nerd, or stupid, or weird and unsocial. But, it shouldn't take long to prove those misconceptions wrong. I'm reminded of a facebook page I saw once: "so, where do you go to school?" "I'm homeschooled" "dude, no way! I never would have guessed" More later... Thanx for the help! Edited April 27, 2011 by Tally Marx

Teen_Catholic
I'm homeschooled. My answers are in bold. Do you find it difficult to find and make friends? No, I get to take a class once a week Do you ever wish you were at a school? No, I love being at home. I used to go to public and Catholic schools, but the education quality was poor and the influences were bad. Is there anything you feel like you're "missing out on" because you're homeschooled? Homework. I do have some homework from the class, but not every night. I do have a scheduled curriculum. Do your parents have a difficult time with the homeschooling laws/homeschooling supervisors? (However that state is set up) No, I do an online Catholic school. If you are enrolled in an accreddited school, regular laws don't apply. Do you think you will homeschool your own children? Probably. If I am patient enough. Do you have a strict daily schedule? I have to get all my work done from the curriculum, but my starting and ending times vary. Do you have a special "classroom" in your house where you do your school work, or can it be anywhere? I work at my desk in my room. Do you help any younger siblings with their work? I sometimes help my kindergarten brother with music class. Overall, are you happy that you are homeschooled? YES!!! The only downside is the noise. My siblings are kinda loud, but when I focus I can work well. Is there anything you would change about the way you're homeschooled? I would want more audio lectures. Those are fun. Do you like the curricula you are using? I do Seton. (setonhome.org) I love it; it's very strict, very Catholic, and very challenging. There are some! I can come up with more, maybe! I hope that helps you! I would be happy to answer more if you'd like.
Edited April 28, 2011 by Teen_Catholic
